After retiring from a career in healthcare, my husband and I had the opportunity to purchase the family farm where I grew up in southern Delaware. My parents were very active in the Mennonite community and my mother’s parents were actually Amish, therefore, you might say quilting was in my DNA. Switching from sewing quilts from fabric, I began painting “barn quilts” for some of the outdoor buildings on the farm. I started with pressure treated plywood but realized this was a heavy product and the painted surface was not long lasting in the outdoor elements. I began to use an aluminum composite product that was lightweight and durable. I have found this a great way to express individuality and beauty and hope you will as well.
